In 2021, on our Foundress Day, we came together as a college community to commemorate 150 years of Dominican presence in Aotearoa. We remembered the 10 courageous and brave Sisters who travelled from Dublin, Ireland to NZ by boat and arrived in Otago on 18 February 1871. After 4 months on the boat, these 10 women opened a school on 27 February 1871, only 8 days after arrival. This was an all girl's high school, like ours, and was called St Catherine's.
As a school, and with some of our Dominican Sisters, we created the number 150 for a special photo.
